What is LED?
LED is an abbreviation of Light Emitting Diode. It is an electronic device that lights up when electricity is passed through it. LED bulbs are tiny light bulbs that are eaily fitted into an electrical circuit.
Where are LEDs found?
LED bulbs are found in all kinds of electronics. They can be found on digital clocks, cell phones, appliances, automotive tail lights, remote controls, traffic lights, etc...
LED Advangages:
LED bulbs have various advantages over conventional incandescent lamps. They do not have a filament that will burn out so they will last much longer. Additionally, their small plastic bulb makes them a lot more durable. The main advantage of LED bulbs is efficiency. Incandescent bulbs generate heat in order to warm the filament. Unless you are using the lamp as a heater this is a complete waste of energy as a large portion of this energy is not being used to produce visible light. LED bulbs generate very little heat and so a large percentage of the electical power is being used for actual light output rather than heat which cuts down the electrical demand.
