What is HID Technology?

HID technology is a stylish and practical way to get brighter light output from your vehicle’s headlights. They are more durable in comparison to their stock, halogen counterparts because of how they are created. With Xenon HID conversion kits, installation has never been easier.

Xenon HID lamps do not have a filament like a halogen bulb. Instead the light is created by an electrical discharge between two electrodes in an airtight tiny quartz capsule filled with xenon gas, mercury, and metal halide salts. This improves bulb durability as road vibrations can cause damage to coil lighting technologies. Though you may be paying more for HID lamps, you can be confident that your new lights will last you a very long time. Never worry about faulty filaments again.

HID conversion kit technology produces a blue-white light that is safer given that it is close to natural daylight. The color temperature is approximately 4200K compared to 3200K for halogen. HID technology also produces increased light output. A 35W Xenon HID lamp will produce approximately double the light of a 55W halogen bulb. Furthermore, HID conversion kit technology will draw less power than a 55W halogen bulb from your vehicle's electrical system.

The XenonDepot Commitment to Quality

We are committed to providing our customers with the highest quality parts. That’s why we’re confident that XenonDepot HID kits are the right choice. Not all HID components are created equally. That is why when you buy XenonDepot products, you know you’re getting OEM grade replacement bulbs and ballasts. Whereas other brands of HID lighting can have a fail rate of 10% out of the box due to cheap materials, we’ve found ours to have a 0.05% chance over the past decade.

We also understand the importance of safety. Cheaper brands of HID kits have are more susceptible to overheating and could cause a fire hazard. We only use the highest quality compatible parts to maximize the life of your bulbs and ballasts while to ensure you do not damage your headlights or vehicle over time.

HID Color Temperature Explained

Color Temperature is a measurement in Degrees Kelvin that indicates the hue of a specific type of light source. Many people believe the misconception that color temperature is a rating of the brightness of the bulb or HID conversion kit. This belief is completely false. The reality of the matter is that the higher the color temperature, the less useable light output you will obtain. A perfect example would be a black light. This light has a color temperature of approximately 12,000k and has almost no usable light or lumen output.

Our Legitimate Warranty

The Xtreme HID conversion kits and Volt HID conversion kits carry legitimate warranties that are handled directly through our company. XenonDepot has been selling HID conversion kit lighting products online since 2001. We have also been actively supporting many automotive enthusiast forums since then. You can feel confident in purchasing an HID conversion kit from XenonDepot as we strive to offer you superior products with the highest level of customer service. Don't fall for low cost/poor quality HID conversion kits with gimmick lifetime warranties that will end up costing you more than you bargained for due to return/exchange shipping costs. Remember! A warranty is only good as long as the merchant you purchase your HID kit from stays in business. It is one thing to advertise a warranty; however, very few stand behind their products like we have been doing since 2001.

35W vs 55W HID Kits

XenonDepot only sells 35W HID conversion kits for several reasons. 55W HID conversion kits do produce slightly more light (approximately 15%-20%) than a 35W HID Kit. This increased light output usually results in a less even light spread and additional glare. 55W ballasts are not as efficient as 35W ballasts that we sell, meaning that 55W ballast longevity will be compromised. Many merchants that sell 55W HID claim that 55W is a superior technology. However, there is a reason that all cars that come with HID lights from the factory still use 35W technology and not 55W technology. These 55W HID kits often overdrive the 35W HID bulb to obtain the increased light output. As a result, you can expect the HID bulb to burn hotter which can damage your headlight. You can also expect a significantly decreased bulb life.
