What is HID Technology?
Xenon HID lamps do not have a filament like a halogen bulb. Instead the light is created by an electrical discharge between two electrodes in an air tight tiny quartz capsule filled with xenon gas, mercury, and metal halide salts. This improves bulb durability as road vibrations can cause damage to coil lighting technologies. HID conversion kit technology produces a blue-white light that is safer given that it is close to natural daylight. The color temperature is approximately 4200K compared to 3200K for halogen. HID technology also produces increased light output. A 35W Xenon HID lamp will produce approximately double the light of a 55W halogen bulb. Furthermore, HID conversion kit technology will draw less power than a 55W halogen bulb from your vehicle's electrical system.

HID Color Temperature Explained
Color Temperature is a measurement in Degrees Kelvin that indicates the hue of a specific type of light source. Many people believe the misconception that color temperature is a rating of the brightness of the bulb or HID conversion kit. This belief is completely false. The reality of the matter is that the higher the color temperature, the less useable light output you will obtain. A perfect example would be a black light. This light has a color temperature of approx 12,000k and has almost no usable light or lumen output.
Our Legitimate Warranty
The Xtreme HID conversion kit and Volt HID conversion kits carry legitimate warranties that are handled directly through our company. XenonDepot has been selling HID conversion kit lighting products online since 2001. We have also been actively supporting many automotive enthusiast forums since that time. You can feel confident in purchasing an HID conversion kit from XenonDepot as we strive to offer you superior products with the highest level of customer service. Don't fall for low cost/poor quality HID conversion kits with gimmick lifetime warranties that end up costing you more than you bargained for due to return/exchange shipping costs. Remember! A warranty is only good as long as the merchant you purchase your HID kit from stays in business. It is one thing to advertise a warranty; however, very few stand behind their products like we have been doing since 2001.
XenonDepot's commitment to product quality
HID replacement bulbs and ballasts are not created equally. Our HID lighting products use OEM grade HID replacement bulbs and ballasts to ensure the quality and durability of our product. Our HID conversion kits are assembled in high tech ISO and TUV certified facilities. Poor quality HID kits can have failure rates of around 10% right out of the box and potentially last only 1-2 months. Our HID kits have a failure rate of approximately 0.05% (based on 9 years of selling HID lighting products). Beware of merchants selling low grade HID lighting products that can be a potential fire hazard to your vehicle. Do not compromise your safety when it comes to automotive lighting. Many HID Kit vendors often do not understand the the technical aspect of the product they are selling. They are attracted to low costs and boasted warranties. Many low cost HID conversion kits being sold in the market are now using DC ballasts to power AC HID bulbs. These ballasts will damage the bulb electrodes and greatly reduce bulb life. Damaged electrodes will cause the bulb gases to leak gradually and result in total bulb failure. HID replacement bulbs do not burn hotter than halogen bulbs however they do put out a significant amount of UV which is why our HID replacement bulbs use German made Philips UV quartz glass. UV Quartz Glass provides more light on the road as well as the highest level of resistance to vibrations, extremes of temperature, and risks of explosion. Philips UV-blocking Quartz Glass filters out the ultraviolet rays that are potentially damaging to modern plastic head lighting units. Lower grade HID bulbs do not use proper quartz glass to save costs and will end up damaging your vehicle's headlamps over time and burning out prematurely.

35W vs 55W HID Kits
XenonDepot only sells 35W HID conversion kits for several reasons. 55W HID conversion kits do produce slightly more light (approximately 15%-20%) than a 35W HID Kit. This increased light output usually results in a less even light spread and additional glare. 55W ballasts are not as efficient as 35W ballasts that we sell meaning that 55W ballast longevity will be compromised. Many merchants that sell 55W HID claim that 55W is a superior technology. However, there is a reason that all cars that come with HID lights from the factory still use 35W technology and not 55W technology. These 55W HID kits often overdrive the 35W HID bulb to obtain the increased light output. As a result, you can expect the HID bulb to burn hotter which can damage your headlight. You can also expect a significantly decreased bulb life.
